The Five Pillars of Easwegian Society
The Five Pillars of Easwegian Society
Authored by Emizerri Tannurai, interim Custodian of the Presidium of Easwegian Dawn
Work on the Easwegian Charter, a document which will give clarity and help guide Easwegians in their temporary life outside of the shelter of an Easwegian state, has fully began. We, the Presidium, plan to present it to a special session of the Common Assembly by October, in time for the ten year anniversary of the establishment of the Cyber Council, the first form of the Common Assembly.
I have been working closely with you, the public, and many of our esteemed nestors to create a code for Easwegians to live by. Of course, without common values, we can not stay united as a people and as a national consciousness. I want to thank Devaade Raizerni specifically, as he has been an inspiration for much of my current cultural work. He is in many ways my mentor as well as my friend.
As part of the Easwegian Charter, I am proud to say that we have formulated Five Pillars that shall help guide Easwegian Society. These were approved within committees of the Common Assembly with much enthusiasm. They are as follows:
Patriotism
“I undertake the principle to be loyal to the Easwegian nation and the values within. I shall show no undue discrimination against the many groups and races which make up this great nation, and shall treat each individual with basic decency and equal dignity. I shall honour my national heroes and martyrs and celebrate national holidays, and protect and cultivate Easwegian customs and culture. I shall seek justice for my nation and its people. As Easwegians, we are one people with one destiny and in co-operation we stand.”
Kinship
“I undertake the principle of honesty and reciprocity with those I consider my family, to show respect to those deserving, and to honour and help my elders. I shall be present in the upbringing of my children. I shall lend a hand to my neighbours in their time of need.”
Education
“I undertake the principle to value education and the joy of lifelong learning, and to commit myself to learning skills for life. I shall expect a proper education for the children and as an adult I shall continue to educate myself in science, culture, basic politics and new skills, in order to better tackle and understand the society and world in which I am part. I shall not trick people and instead strive to educate others with the good knowledge I possess"
Environmentalism
“I undertake the principle to respect the environment of my surroundings and the life within, and to engage in sustainable and renewable practices, as is represented in the will of the Ouroboros”
Personal responsibility
“I undertake the principle of personal responsibility in the conduct of my actions I take towards myself and others, and I shall respect the consent of others. If I choose to drink or take drugs, I shall not abuse them, and I shall respect the personal space of others, as shall I expect the same respect to be shown to me. I shall not be a public nuisance, I shall be an asset to my community. I will not take on credit and incur debts knowing that I will not pay them. If I am undergoing personal hardship, I shall take charge and seek help and guidance. I shall strive to be the best version of myself, a valued individual and part of a community.”
