November 2023 Grand Councillor election: Suqeruli Bai wins a comfortable majority - set to become the second-ever chief of state

With 140 votes and 60% of the vote, Marquis of Maritime Hopen Suqeruli Bai defeated Don Cho on Saturday 11th and is set to succeed Emizerri as the second-ever Grand Councillor on 25 November

Suqeruli Bai, commonly referred to as Squ Bai, an independent candidate who has served as the first Marquis of Maritime Hopen since 2020, was elected on Saturday with a comfortable 60% majority.

Squ Bai, 24, running on a platform of building new infrastructure and a cultural renaissance, thanked the people for electing him and for their determination in building Easway since its founding in 2017. Don Cho, who exceeded expectations and landed a respectable 30% against the Emizerri-endorsed founder, conceded defeat and congratulated Squ Bai. He has since been awarded the highest honour in the land, Champion of the Easwegian Common Union, by Emizerri in praise of his efforts as Paladin in extinguishing the threat of terror org Kingdom - 1925 the previous month before.
Results of the election



Squ Bai during his campaign stated the urgency of stable leadership and warned the people of tough times ahead in a coming 'global renewal.' A political centrist and Easwegianist, Squ Bai said that Easway must be centre stage in promoting its ideas and that Easwegian leaders must be committed to both peace and societal cohesion. Squ Bai also referred to himself as a 'natural diplomat' and promised to forward Easwegian interests.

Suqeruli Bai shall take his seat on 25th November with the rest of the 10th United Common Assembly members. The UCA is also expected to elect the National Directorate and Assembly President for a renewed 6 month term. Emizerri has stated he shall aim to be elected by the UCA as Grand Marshal, a position currently vacant.
