Eix Easway - A New Syrian Dawn: Easwegian leaders react to the fall of Assad
Over the past two weeks, rebels of different factions in the Syrian Revolution led a successful campaign, from Aleppo to Hama, from Homs to Damascus, which resulted in the overthrow of long-time dictator Bashar Al-Assad. The Easwegian Government has had a complicated relationship with the Assad regime over the past five years of contact. From supporting the Turkish intervention against the SDF and YPG in the Northeast, to under-the-table trade with the Syrian government after tense relations with Moscow, to Grand Marshal Kasimo spearheading complete detachment with the Syrian regime. Following Grand Councillor Zerrindou's election on the 25 November which he termed a New Dawn, his government confirmed he had been working with the Turkish government to both arm HTS and SNA rebels as well as aiding in launching Operation Dawn of Freedom on 30 November.
Syri vi Ezerrye
Governor Syri vi Ezerrye, Easway's General Envoy and head of international affairs with the Levant, has been offering live updates of the situation to the government and diaspora in Easway as things have been happening. Syri vi Ezerrye and his family fled Syria due to repression from the Assad family.
Syrian mocked the cowardly nature of Assad, hiding from public appearance whilst the campaign stormed through the country, such as posting 'looking for a white male, 59 years old, 1.89m tall.' Once the overthrow of Assad was confirmed, Syri stated 'ONE ONE, ONE THE SYRIAN PEOPLE ARE ONE! Long live the Syrian Revolution'
Squ Bai
Suqeruli 'Squ' Bai, former Grand Councillor, offered cautious advice following the rebel victory, stating that it was 'too early to celebrate and speculate that this will be better for Syria and neighbouring places.'
Swapardeshi
Swapardeshi, Governor of Bear Island and Grand Lady of Easway, offered support of the Syrian Revolution, concurring that Assad had to go, having more than enough time in the presidential office. She hoped that Syria could now heal from the damage of the civil war.
Emizerri
Emizerri, Assembly President, celebrated Assad's downfall, agreeing that Assad was a brutal dictator and the worst option for Syria. Emizerri also agreed with Squ Bai's caution, and stated he was concerned with possible Israeli and US involvement within the Syrian resistance. Throughout the campaign, Emizerri played advocate for the HTS despite their leader's fundamentalist history, although agreed they are no one to outright support in the long-term.
Archiennè
Archiennè, 8th Grand Marshal of Easway, expressed concern for the future of Syria after the departure of Assad, quoting the common mantra of 'there can always be worse.' Whilst not supporting Assad and recognising the suffering he brought to the nation, Archiennè warned that without proper guidance and a quick transition to stability, Syria could once again be taken over by Islamic fundamentalism and Western imperial hegemony that could see the people enslaved further than they were under Assad.
