Easwegian founder, third Grand Councillor

This new initiative on profile overviews was funded through Directive II on the Brush-up of Easwegian culture. All profile overviews shall follow an objective view.

Aleksounder Zerrindou is an Easwegian statesman and founder who served as the third Grand Councillor from 25 November 2024 to 25 May 2025. He first entered Easway in 2021 from Indonesia, where he was born. He entered politics as a measured third-party centrist figure. He previously served as a prefect within the Common Assembly led the Social Democratic Party of Easway briefly in 2022.

Zerrindou is the honoured founder of the Easwegian Dawn Liberation Movement.

As Grand Councillor

Zerrindou became Grand Councillor on 25 November 2024, being elected with 67% of the public vote earlier that month under the slogan of "RISE TO THE HORIZON." He succeeded Suqeruli Bai.
Before entering the race to become head of state, Zerrindou was never expected for the office. He was a relatively obscure figure, surrounded by much bolder personalities. During the election, the Easwegian government, greenlit by the Supreme Court,  invoked a state of national emergency led by then Grand Marshal Emizerri known as the October Obligation, which involved the other Grand Councillor candidates, Don Cho and Syri Dan. The October Obligation was an audacious reorganisation of Easwegian politics with the stated aim of stabilising the economy by steering away from the pillarisation and culture wars occurring within the realm. This ultimately aided in his election due to the material circumstances of the time as he was seen as a nation-builder FDR-type.

The Assembly Equilibrium Act passed on 25 November 2024 gave Zerrindou as the winner of the Grand Councillor election the role of sole head of state, which was previously held collectively by the Imperative Council of Easway (ICE).

Zerrindou successfully saw the National Integrity Act passed on 8 December 2024, which saw the creation of Easwegian Dawn. It also gave the Grand Councillor strengthened powers in times of national priority.

Dawnbreaker bill and controversies

The Supreme Court of Easway struck down parts of the 2024 Biarmian Declaration on 10 April 2025. Namely, the incorporation of Biarmia into the official state boundaries was declared unconstitutional. In response, Zerrindou crafted the Dawnbreaker bill which would have prioritised territory surrounding the Varanger Peninsula as core Easwegian territory, then called Biarmia Minor. The act would have also legislated on the use of AI by the government. This act would have required public referendum, which went ahead in early May.

"The path to the future of this nation is not, and will not be paved in silence. It is going to be painstakingly paved by those who act, not on the behalf of themselves, but to the behalf of the nation. The aforementioned Dawnbreaker Act, born of my own vision, and of course the omnipresent will of the patriots that walk the streets of our nation, is simply, what I would call; a necessity. A necessity to react against the inefficiencies that have plagued us. A necessity now with the growing whispers in palaces, and hands where they do not belong. And finally, a necessity to end the age of empty promises and pledges." - Zerrindou

Emizerri, then President of the Common Assembly, though initially supporting the Dawnbreaker bill switched to being against it, because of clauses which he argued gave the Grand Councillor too much power. Because of his opposition, the Dawnbreaker bill was rejected by the public by 60% of the vote out of 105 votes.
With this fresh defeat and a new Grand Councillor election looming, Zerrindou saw his leadership as critical to the survival of the realm. Zerrindou used claimed powers of the 2024 National Integrity Act and passed the Dawnbreaker Act anyway, in effecting launching a self-coup known today as the Dawnbreaker Coup, on 10 May 2025. Zerrindou arrested his main opposition candidate, Syri Dan. Zerrindou also stripped the powers of Don Cho, then General Director, an act which caused no love lost between the two. Zerrindou ordered all communications across the country to be limited.

From his imprisonment, Syri Dan declared the creation of the Salvation Committee to arrange for the restoration of democratic norms. He employed Emizerri as his counsellor. Emizerri met with Zerrindou and questioned his motives and demanded a restoration of democratic norms. Zerrindou responded that he was giving Easway a wakeup call and attempting to prepare the next candidate, hoping that by that point prospective winner Syri Dan would "break free from the strung up state he is now."

Emizerri left the Grand Councillor's residence and filed a petition to the Supreme Court which became known as "Syri Moghamadan vs the Easwegian Common Union." As a result of the case, the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Csyeigo ordered the release of Syri Dan and the suspension of Zerrindou's Grand Councillor powers, although he would officially still retain the title until the election.
Emizerri was made acting Grand Councillor.
Zerrindou lost the 16 May 2025 election against Syri Dan, gaining only 18.2% of the vote to Syri Dan's 82.6%. He peacefully vacated office on 25 May 2025. As Regent Grand Councillor, Emizerri had attempted to pardon him, though it was impossible as Zerrindou was never formally charged or convicted of any crime.
The next month, Norway launched a surprise invasion of Easway which led to the dissolution of the republic on 1 July 2025. Since this event, Zerrindou's image has been rehabilitated as being a misunderstood but patriotic founder.
